Network Marketing Multilevel, MLM, Pyramid: Name It, Don’t Blame It
A time hardly passes when the word MLM comes up that there is negative remarks made about how “I lost my butt” in MLM”. Or, some relative or friend suffer a similar loss. On closer examination, not all of the story is being told. A great deal of the time, greedy or decision-challenged people are the most heated complainers. They fail to mention that they responded to an ad that indicated an income of $30,000.00 per month and required no selling and no work. Again, an excessive amount of greed or ignorance is required to become involved with such a company. It’s easy to refer to legitimate Network Marketing or MLM business owners as running a pyramid scheme. Pyramids were declared illegal many years ago and now the FDA scrutinizes the industry to prosecute these crooks. A pyramid scheme is when a company charges a fee to join for the sole purpose of letting their new customer charge a fee for someone else to join, and so on. There is no product of service involved and is doomed to failure as the fees are tremendous and it is difficult to find anyone else to sucker in. There are unscrupulous companies in the Network Marketing industry as there are in all types of businesses. A rotten company can operate on many levels. Many are found on late night TV, mail order, direct mail and even door to door. However, MLM is regulated and violators are eventually ferreted out. There are strict regulations as to the amount that is charged for a “distributor kit”. the amount of product that the new distributor is required to buy. (Any reputable MLM company will not deal with a distributor that does not use the product.) Training is essential and is provided by the company as well as the sponsor. Too many companies provide the distributor kit and weekly telephone conference calls and expect the newbie to become an award-winning distributor right away. MLM is a business and is really much more than the Multiple Level part of it. It is, in actuality, a Network Marketing Business. You do not have to recruit other distributors to work beneath you and provide a small percentage over-ride. Many simply market the product through direct mail, opted-in email customers and personal contacts in their community. The largest pitfall for the new distributor is the lack of experience in the field of marketing and business management. You just can’t take people from non-business professions and throw them into business situation. In my company, we now recruit a lot of professional people. Doctors, lawyers all well-educated and intelligent people, some who need to have special training. We recruit many school teachers, real estate salespersons as well as small business men suffering from the recession. Yet, we offer them extensive training and support. Herein lies the saddest part of all. With unemployment having reached an all time high, trash-talk about MLM is keeping many from getting involved and earning, after a few months, a figure close to or above the salary they were earning from their previous job. I encourage anyone needing extra money or full-time income to investigate MLM rather than running the risk of becoming a welfare junky. Unemployment causes the loss of pride, family and a sense of failure. A sense of failure that often leads to depression and illness that can take a physical toll. Don’t jump into the first MLM you see. Check them out. Here is one I work with and I find them quite reputable. http://www.sozolife.com/HaroldMounce
